tonight’s the night!

So it is finally Thursday July 17th! The day I have been waiting to come for months and months! Do you have any clue what I’m talking about? Probably not…so here it is…I’M SEEING THE DARK NIGHT TONIGHT AT MIDNIGHT! yay! I’m so freakin excited, I can’t even begin to tell you. I love the new Batman movies and I am a huge fan of both Christian Bale and Heath Ledger so this should be awesome. There is only one thing I am kind of worried about, and you may think this is cheesy and laugh at me or whatever, but here it is. I’m afraid that when I see Heath Ledger in the movie I will get sad and won’t get past the fact that he died and will not be able to enjoy the movie to the full extent. It’s weird, I’ve never felt truly sad when a celebrity died until Heath Ledger. It’s not like I’m an obsessed fan either and just can’t stand that I will not be seeing his “Hotness” or anything like that. I think what makes me the saddest is that he was an incredible actor with so much more ahead of him. I mean, he has always been a great actor but he finally was getting out of the teen kind of movies and doing more serious stuff that really showed how talented he truly was. All though I think it is tragic the way he died and I will miss seeing new movies starring him, I gotta say….at least he went out with a bang, because I know (without even seeing the movie yet) that he did an incredible job acting as the Joker. So, when I’m sitting in the theater tonight at midnight, I’m going to try my best to enjoy the movie and admire the hottness of Christian Bale and maybe that will take the edge off of my “oh, poor Heath” brain waves.

Music: From elementary to College

I came across this article that talked about how one’s personal taste in music evolves from childhood. It was actually very interesting, but since it’s been a couple days I’ve kind of forgotten a lot of what it actually talked about and I can’t find the article again. What I did remember was that sometimes If you map out what type of music you listened to at different age levels (elementary, middle, high school and college etc) there can be many reasons for your liking that particular band or whatever that actually have nothing to do with their music but more of the fad or media that is evolved around it. Also another thing that may contribute to your liking that particular style could be due to the stigma involved with that genre. Of course reasons like these aren’t always the case, it could just be that you like them, and one way you can tell this is if you still enjoy that music. So what the article said to do, just for fun basically, what to map out types of music you listened to and to think about why you listened to them etc. to see if your reasons were for pure enjoyment or fads or media etc. I don’t exactly remember if there was a bigger point to this other then the “lets just see” factor, but whatever I’m bored so I will do it anyways.

so here I go:

before 4th grade - I really didn’t have a personal music taste at this time so I listened to whatever my parents listened to which was oldies and classic rock….so we go Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, ZZ Top, Doobie Brothers, Steve Miller Band, Aerosmith, Elton John, Aretha Franklin, Queen, The Doors, The Eagles, James Taylor, Pink Floyd, Lynyrd Synyrd,  Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix…ok you get the drift

4th to 5th grade - ok so this would be my pop phase I guess you could say…Nsync, Britney Spears, 98 Degrees…actually I guess thats the most POP I liked…uhh…No Doubt, Jewel, Matchbox 20, U2, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and still the classic rock stuff….can’t really think of much else….

Middle School - well i definatly developed my taste a bid here lol…ok so we got….Blink182, Limp Bizkit, Nelly, Eminem, Eve 6, Goo Goo Dolls, Lifehouse, Sugar Ray, The Cranberries, Puddle of Mudd, Papa Roach, Dr. Dre, Kidrock, Linkin Park, Lit, Nirvana….and a lot more that are around the rap genre and such..

High School - hmmm lets see….here I started listening to stuff more like Bon Jovi, Journey, ACDC, Simple Plan,  Gavin Degraw, Good Charlotte, 3 Doors Down, Green Day, Guns N’ Roses, Nickelback, The Ramones, The Clash, Styx, Sum41, Weezer…etc…

College - well..since college I have added to my collection of music…All American Rejects, Fall Out Boy, Bowling for Soup, Bryan Greenberg, Buckcherry, 30 Seconds to Mars, Coldplay, The Fray, Hinder, Jacks Mannequin, Johnny Cash, Justin Timberlake, My Chemical Romance, Rufus Wainwright, Switchfoot, and country stuff like Tim Mcgraw, Alan Jackson, Toby Keith, Carrie Underwood, Dierks Bentley, Garth Brooks and Trace Adkins. I also like a ton of random bands most people don’t even know about but whatever…

Ok so after looking at this list, minus a couple things, I pretty much still listen to all this stuff. The only stuff I don’t listen to anymore would be Britney Spears, Nsync and 98 Degrees, pretty much the pop stuff…but even every now and then i get bored and want to go down memory lane and listen to a lil nsync lol. Whenever I found a band I liked I pretty much still like them such as Matchbox Twenty and U2 and all the classic rock stuff. I listen to that stuff every day. So all in all I pretty much have the most random taste in music considering I listen from everything from matchbox twenty to nirvana to trace adkins to the rolling stones all in one day lol. Oh well…I wish I could remember exactly what that article was talking about so I wouldn’t just post all the music I listen to because Im sure what the article had to say was a ton more interesting. Too late now, that is all.
